ODBD Bread Basket

Saturday, February 13, 2010
Happy Saturday everyone!! Today it is time for another Our Daily Bread Designs - Shining the Light Challenge and Saturday Spotlight Challenge.

For this week's challenge at Our Daily Bread Designs Shining the Light Challenge, the team would like to challenge you to use red or pink and bling on your creation since tomorrow is Valentine's Day. It need not be a Valentine's Day creation.

To make the challenge even more fun, there will be a prize of a $15 gift certificate to be used toward stamps at the Our Daily Bread Designs store for participant randomly chosen!! Entries for the prize must be submitted by Thursday, February 18. One random winner will be chosen and announced next Saturday. While it is not required to use Our Daily Bread Designs images and sentiments on your creations, we would love to see them if you have them.

Now on to my creation:

For this card I used the stamp set You Will Find Refuge from Our Daily Bread Designs. Chickadees are one of my fave birds and I find this verse so comforting. I used some Imaginesce paper and some scraps from my scrap bin for the dp. I love bling but believe it or not I struggled with how much to put on it to not take away from the beautiful bird. The little pearls and silver baubles seemed subtle but yet elegant. What do you think?

Stamps: You Will Find Refuge-Our Daily Bread Designs
Paper: Imaginesce, Bitter Chocolate, Pink Pirouette, Bitter Chocolate
Accessories: Spellbinders Lattice Pendant, Spellbinders Lattice Border, MS pearls, ZVA Creative Pearls, Silver Baubles, May Arts Pink Ribbon, Cuttlebug Vintage Corner die

We hope you can join us for the challenge! If you do, please leave a direct link here to Mr. Linky. If you upload your creations to Splitcoast Stampers or any other online gallery, please use the keyword is ODBDSLC2. When creating your posts on blogs please include a link to the challenge.

Today is a new Saturday Spotlight Challenge!! I love this challenge. It really challenges you to think outside the box.

For this week's challenge.....
The Spotlight Divas would like to challenge you to use a household item on your creation...but NOT a craft item! Use safety pins, dryer sheets, household cleaners, paper clips for doing a technique or using as an embellishment.

This week's Saturday Spotlight is

Victoria Case Art Designs

(click HERE to go to her store)

One Lucky participant of the challenge this week will be randomly chosen to win four digital images of their choice from Victoria's store.

Here is my take on the challenge:

Stamps: Matthew from Susanna Custom Arts and Card Designs
Paper: Nook & Pantry- Basic Grey, Chocolate chip, dusty durango, white, water color paper
Accessories: paper clip, board clip, twine

This image is Matthew illustrated by Victoria Case and sold at Susanna's Custom Arts and Card Designs. I colored him in with water colors. The layout uses this week's Mojo Monday sketch. The colors uses the color challenge at SC this week which is Shadow Chocolate Durango (sage shadow, Choc. chip, and dusty durango). The household items I used on my creation are paperclips, twine and a board clip. I distressed my creation with sand paper (another household item) I plan on using this card for my nephews upcoming birthday. He calls his sister "sissy". I was going to add a big smooch from sissy but thought that I might be pushing it there so I went with the hug. LOL!

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you are inspired by my creation to join this week's challenge. For more inspiration, please visit my dt sisters:

Hi Chris: Your bird card is delightful! Just the right amount of bling, IMHO.
Just wondering ... are there two challenges going on your blog? ODBDC and Spotlight Saturday? Where do I upload a card for the Spotlight Saturday challenge using a household item?
