Usually I like to post first thing in the a.m. but not today. My daughter and I are sick with the stomach flu so this will be brief. I wanted to share the Lift up our Hands set from Our Daily Bread Designs
. Be sure to visit the blogs of some of the design team members to see their cards using this set. Everyone has a unique take on how to use the set. The cards are amazing!The image on this card was inked and embossed in not quite navy and clear embossing powder (several times). The image actually is cracked using the cracked glass technique although it is cracked better under the dimensionalized praying hands. Around the praying hand image I put several little pearls to highlight it. The card is sewn in gold thread. The ribbon was white wheer with gold trim and I dyed it in Not Quite Navy.
I love this set! It is so versatile! It could not have come to me at a better time since I have several sympathy cards to make. Our family has had 4 funerals of a family member and parents or spouses of close friends in the last 3 1/2 weeks.

Good Morning Everyone! It is very windy here today (gusts up to 60 mph) and I had very little sleep as a result. I was stamping very early this morning! lol!Today I would like to share my first card made as a designer of Our Daily Bread designs (ODBD). This card is a preview of the set "He is Risen" that will be available on January 1st. I love this set. It is so versatile and comes with many different verses. This card measures 5 1/2 by 5 1/2. I chose to stamp the cross in a verigation of gray, pink. and purple to make it look like nails. The verse "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have Eternal Life! John 3:16." was embossed in gold. "Alleluia" is also embossed in gold. I love this verse, it is so appropriate as we marvel at Christmas time about the abundant blessing God has bestowed upon us. The background of the verse is embossed with a Swiss Dot cuttlebug folder. Some of the dp is dry embossed with the floral folder. All of the edges are sewn with metallic gold thread. A gold cross charm was added to the ribbon.

Sorry it took me so long to post something on my blog today. Our family went away for the weekend to celebrate Christmas with my side of the family. Since my hubby has off this weekend we were in no hurry to come home. We had a great time! Unfortunately it is a rare occasion to be altogether since we live in different areas. Tonight I want to share some Christmas tags that I made titled the 12 Days of Christmas. I made these before Christmas for a card challenge. I found out today that I won 2nd. I was so honored since all of the entrees were BEAUTIFUL. There are so many talented people out there. While I do not feel worthy, it may day interesting and made me feel good.
These cards were drawn out by me. Some were paper pieced and others were colored using the gamsol technique. All of the cards were sewn with gold thread and were shaker cards. It took me a lot of time but it was also fun.
The box I got from Michaels and decorated the tops and sides. The inside is lined with ribbon.

This is going to be a very short post since I really should be sleeping. If I do not go back to bed for an hour, I will be worthless today.
The image is called Charlotte with Reindeer from Whiff of Joy. I colored the image with prisma color pencils and used the gamsol technique. I LOVE how it blends. The image was stamped out several times and parts were layered. I used gold baubles on the collar to make them look like bells. Actual bells were too big. The image was embossed and glittered. I drew the hills in the background.

.Their images are adorable andvery hard to resist. I colored this image in with my copics. The image is layered and put on a Certainly celery dry embossed background. The tree is an image from Inkadinkadoo that I swirled on liquid applique to make it look like snow. The girl and cat are glittered.

Hi again! I decided I better post this right away before time got away from me. This next card uses the We Three Kings set from Our Daily Bread designs. I stamped the image in encore gold ink several times and embossed it. I then watercolored the image cut it out and layered it. It was very difficult to cut out the watercolor paper especially in some of the small areas or details. I love the 3D look. I would definitely do it again.

Hi! I had planned on leaving a few posts yesterday on Christmas but my family had other plans. I hope everyone had a blessed Christmas. We had a great day. I am always am at amazed at the amount of preparations are needed and how fast the day goes.
I would like to share a Christmas card that I made using Angel from Our Daily Bread Designs. Sorry it is so late but time got away from me.
The image was embossed in gold on watercolor paper and then watercolored using Stampin Up inks. Parts of the image were cut out and layered. The verse is also gold embossed. The background behind the angel is done used the cracked window technique. The card is sewn in gold metallic thread.

I am so excited to have been invited by Kelley to be a member of Our Daily Bread Design's Design Team starting in January!! I LOVE their stamps. It is so hard to find nice Christian or inspirational stamps. What an honor to work with such a talented group of card artists! I hope I can inspire others like these artists continue to inspire me. This card I made for two purposes. One was to make a birthday card and the other was to use the Splitcoast challenge SFYTT that I(Heart)2stamp had posted on her blog. I had made one other card for this challenge but I really wanted to try making a wintery card for this challenge as well.
I used the snow swirled bird from Inkadinkado. First I stamped the image in silver and embossed it. Then I reinked the image with my Baja Breese Craft Ink and embossed it in clear. Before I cut out the image, I dry embossed the background silver image using my Swiss Dot Cuttlebug folder. The background white you see behind the third layer, the thin baja breeze strip behind the image, and the three round circles are embossed using the snowflake folder. It is hard to see the dry embossing clearly in this picture. After sewing the card in blue and putting it together, I added the snowflakes and a blue bow.

I really enjoyed this layout challenge. It was a lot of fun. The card looks a little like a Christmas card but my mother in laws birthday is right before Christmas. Hope she likes it.
Here it is the day before Christmas and I am still creating Christmas cards. This is actually a shaker card that I made for my hubby, Scott. I hope he doesn't mind me sharing this card before he even sees it. I was planning on making a very simple card since I have soooo much to do today but decided that a cardinal makes the perfect shaker card. (Scott loves watching the birds in the winter and so do I. This stamp was just begging to be inked up.) Anyone who has done a shaker card knows that shakers are not easy cards to make but I really love how it turned out and hope Scott does too.
As you can see from the photo, there are tons of gold baubles on this card (small, medium and large). I think the gold balls make it look more festive. It is hard to see from the picture, but the red is all glitter paper. I sewed the car with metallic gold. This card has a lot of shimmer!!

Good Morning Everyone! I hope everyone is keeping warm. It is only 10 degress here. It is nice and cozy inside looking out at the cold snow. The card I am sharing with you today has really evolved. I made it with three purposes in mind. First I wanted to make it using the layout presented as a Splitcoast challenge by I(Heart)2stamp (SFYTT). I also wanted to use materials sent to me from a dear friend of mine in a R.A.K. just last week. Thirdly, I was making it as a birthday card for my mother in law. It, however, is no longer a birthday card since as I began this card a friend emailed me and asked to make her a 75th Anniversary card for her ASAP. WaLa! Here it is. I hope you like it. The image is made using Brenda Walton die cuts that I paper pieced, layered and glittered on a dry embossed background. The design paper and gold glitter cardstock is from K&Co. I added ribbon,pearls, and one glittered purple prima.
The thick ribbon is actually a green which matches perfectly with the designer paper. I bought this ribbon at Michaels in their Christmas Ribbon. I loved it and new I just had to use it. The entire card is sewn with metallic gold thread.Card Recipe

Hello Everyone! Today is a bright sunny day. It looks beautiful on the snow we received over the weekend. The sky is not nearly as gray. I feel a bit more chipper today. It is amazing how the weather can change your ambition and mood.
Today I wanted to share a card I made using an old stamp of roses. The name of the company it is from is not even written on it. This card could be used for Valentines Day but I made it for Christmas.
I love how my prima poinsettas accent the actual image. The roses are colored using gamsol, embossed in clear, glittered and layered to give it a 3D look. Of course, I also had to use my nestabilities and cuttlebug embossing tempates to give it extra texture. The pearls, red rhinestones, and red ribbon just give it that extra delicate touch I wanted. The paper is beautiful for Christmas and very hard to find. The local scrapbooking store ran out of this paper very quickly. It is from Scenic Route's Sonoma line. The layers were sewn together with metallic gold thread as well as red.

This card uses stamps from one of my favorite stamp companies Our Daily Bread Designs. The set is called "Jesus is the Reason for the Season." I love how it portrays that even Santa is humble in bowing to Jesus. The image is colored with prisma colored pencils and mineral spirits, embossed, glittered, cut out, and layered with dimensionals on a background that uses the cracked glass technique. The card is sewn with metallic gold thread. Our Daily Bread Designs has some great religious and inspirational stamps.

To keep with the snow and Christmas theme, I decided to share a card I made with a stamp from Spiral Whisper . The stamp is called Milly on Yule Log. I had so much fun using liquid applique to creat the snow on this card. I used the gamsol method of coloring with my Prisma Color pencils. It is had to see from the picture, but the image is embossed and layered with dimensionals. The card is sewn with dark green thread.

I am writing to you from New York State where we are being inundated with snow. The pictures taken are from the window of my yard. This past Friday we had a major snowstorm which crippled the area. We received 10 inches of very slick snow. Last night, we had another 2 inches of snow. Today, again, we have a winter storm warning for another 5-8 inches. It is really coming down. It is cozy to look out at while sitting by the fireplace and Christmas tree. Since the median temperature of the week is in the 20's during the day, it looks like we will definitely have a White Christmas. I love the snow at this time of year. If you talk to me at the end of March or April, however, it may be a totally different story. Snowstorms at this time of year force you to slow down and stay indoors. Unfortunately the snow also hindered several things we had planned, including ou family Christmas party with my husband side of the family. I made food for over 25 people. There is no family but tons of food. I am quite glad they did not come, however, since they would be traveling 10 hours to get here. It is much better safe than sorry. I do miss them though. Since I will be having 4 other families over for New Year's Eve, the food will come in handy then.
I wanted to take this opportunity to introduce myself before I start my first posts. My name is Chris Olsen. I live in Bloomingburg, NY with my husband, Scott, and my two daughters, Nicki, 9, and Meghan, 6. I was an elementary school teacher until my youngest was born. I have now been blessed with the opportunity to teach my two girls at home.I have been stamping for the last 6 years. I was introduced to stamping 6 years ago by my sister who is a Stampin Up Demostrator. I have been busy creating ever since. I use stamping as a hobby or way to escape. I am known as glowbug on Splitcoaststampers. My friends have requested that I start a blog but I am very technologically inept and have hesitated in beginning a blog until now. I apologize in advance for any blunders I make especially in my photos.
I am so excited and I have so much to share with you.
I will be posting a few posts during the holidays since this is such a busy time of year.
