Happy Sunday Everyone!! I hope you all are having a great weekend.  After running around in different directions yesterday, it is going to be so nice to have the day to go to church and then spend together as a family.

Today I have a creation for the new Stampin Sisters in Christ challenge to share with you.

This week's host is Peggysue.  Peggysue has chosen the verse:
Genesis 3:6 When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it.

Not too long ago a friend of mine challenged me with the question:  "If God is a Loving God and He loves His people, why did He put a tree which was a temptation in the garden and allow Eve to eat from the tree of Good and Evil when He knew she would eat from it.  Doesn't God know all that is going to happen before it happens.  If a mother has a child she adores, does she put a marble on the floor that her child will grab and swallow or does she leave a burner on the stove on?"  That is a very difficult question and it took much thought to answer her.  Yes, God is a loving God and no he does want to harm us.  (I know the plans I have for you says the Lord, plans not to harm you but to give you hope and a future.) But....He has created us in His own image, above all others on His creation, He gave us a soul and a mind to make choices and think with.  If He did not allow us to make choices would we not be robots.  God gave Eve the choice then just as He gives us the choice now to trust in Him and believe in His promises even when temptation is in front of us.  God warned Eve about the tree and not to eat from it just as He talks to us through His word, the Bible.  I often wonder what life would be like if there was no sin or if Eve had not eaten from that tree.  ....How many of us would eat from that tree?  Are you listening to God's warnings and Word today or are you like Eve giving it to the temptations of life?

Peggysue's Challenge:
Dig in your stash and use one of your oldest stamp sets, one that hasn't seen any use for a long while.

This was a difficult challenge for me since I have packed almost all my stamps away.  I had to go through and unpack some of my boxes in order to participate this week.  I chose the light house from the oldest stamp set from Our Daily Bread Designs- Light of the World as my older set and combined it with the sentiment from Warm Wishes.  The window die is also from Our Daily Bread Designs.  The card is distressed and sewn.  The image is colored with copics and the sky is sponged.

Card Recipe:
Stamps:  Our Daily Bread Designs: Warm Wishes, Light of the World
Dies: ODBD Window die
Paper: My Mind's Eye Holiday Damask, bitter chocolate, kraft,
Accessories: Twill from Stampin Up, lace from stash

I hope you enjoyed my creation.

Be sure to check out  Peggysue's devotional on the SSIC Blog, as I know you'll be blessed!

Chris this is just stunning. I just love this new die from ODB. And you are so right about God's love for us, He gave us freedom to choose to love and obey, but how would we know what to choose if there were not something to choose from.

Beautiful card Chris. I was just checking out the ODBD new stuff and love this window... just put the curtains on the front of window to look outside and put them behind the frame to be looking inside a home! Love it!

Very though-provoking indeed. It's very different than putting a marble on the floor for our babies and toddlers though. Though we are considered "children of God" we aren't babies. He gives mercy of course to all babies and toddlers who aren't old enough to make their own choices, but those who are old enough to make choices between right/wrong, those are the ones who will be accountable (as Adam and Eve). The way I think of it is... do you force your children to love you? Do we tell our husbands to tell us how lovely we are? No, we want them to say it/show it on their own out of their love for us. It wouldn't mean nearly as much if we have to tell our children, "Tell me you love me... give me hugs". I'd much rather have my kids and husband hug me and/or tell me they love me on their own. I think God feels the same.

Sorry this is such a long comment. I tend to ramble when I'm up in the middle of the night. ;) Woke up at 3:30 and couldn't sleep. Have a great day Chris. ((Hugs))

our sunday school class this past month was on REASON FOR GOD by Tim Keller and that question came up in his discussion. it was 6 weeks of very interesting questions from non-believers. the sad part is after the 6 wks they are STILL non-believers!

your card is absolutely stunning!

hope the weather is holding up by you. really fall here - rainy & cold - at least no "S" word yet.
