Happy Sunday everyone!! I hope you are all enjoying the weekend. Today is my Dad's Birthday. Happy Birthday Dad!! So ...we are celebrating!! My Dad is such a special part of my life and so much of who I am today. I am so blessed to be able to be visiting with my parents and family for the weekend!!
Anywho...since it is Sunday, it is also time for the Stampin Sisters in Christ Challenge this week!! This week's challenge is brought to us by Lisa.
Lisa chose the verse:
Matthew 6: 9-13 "This, then, is how you should pray: 'Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.'
Prayer is such a privilege and an integral part of my life. You are never alone, He is only a prayer away. Prayer is for thanks, for help, for comfort, for guidance...Even Jesus prayed. So often we pray when we are in trouble or when things are not going our way but prayer is also for the good times or a way of saying thanks.
What is the purpose of prayer? Does God answer our prayers? I believe He does always answer our prayers but not always the way we think they should be answered. Last week we had a minister who preached on prayer. In his sermon he shared that his daughter was diagnosed with cancer when she was 41 and had four young children. Of course, he prayed she would be go into remission and be healed but God's answer was to take her home to His Heavenly home. After the sermon there was not a dry eye in the church. All can relate...at one time or another God did not answer their prayers to heal someone. That is why the Lord's prayer says "Thy will be done".
My dear friend Ruby was able to make it to her daughter's wedding ceremony but she is very weak and not doing well. I cry each time I think of her and it seems God is not answering my prayer for healing as I would like but truthfully am I praying out of selfishness for me and her family. Would Ruby be better off in her Heavenly home without pain or suffering. Yes God can heal...he can do the impossible but is it His will to do so.
Lisa's challenge this week is:
Make a card/project that features prayer; either someone praying, or a verse about prayer, or a greeting that lets someone know you are praying for them
Here is my take on the challenge:
I created a card using Our Daily Bread Designs Full of Grace Prayer stamp set. The designer paper was given to me by my friend Grace for my birthday. The dp is Prima Pinkpaislee. I added some flowers, an ivory silk bow, and old ric rac (that I have had for years!!) The nestablilites I used for this creation is the Lacey Squares.
This is a card I made for my dear friend Ruby. We have had the conversation that in these hard times how hard it is for her to pray. She is unsure what to pray for. No she does not want to leave her 4 children and husband but with her pain and her loss of abilities and suffering, what would be best. I feel this sentiment is so true and perfect for her.
This week's Our Daily Bread Designs Stamping in Time challenge hosted by Betty is easy peasy...embossing! So I embossed my verse in gold. I hope you can join in this challenge as well for your chance to win a $15 gift certificate toward stamps!
Challenges:
The Pixie Cottage- stitching
Little Red Wagon - Something Old and Something New (old ric rac and new Prima dp)
Sisterhood of Crafters - Bling
Sweet Stampin - ribbon
Stamping in Time- embossing
