Hello, Friends!! Well, the leaves are changing colors rapidly and falling here!! Winter will soon be here. While I love Fall, it seems Spring and Fall are the shortest seasons. With winter comes Christmas! I can't believe that in less than 2 months it will be here. I am not near ready.
Today I am popping in to share a card I created for the Shining the Light ODBDSLC261 Color challenge...a Christmas creation using only dies and no stamps!!!
I just love the new foliage dies (Lovely Leaves) and the Pine Cones. They really are perfect with the Merry Mosaic and Peaceful Poinsettia dies. I layered the pinecones with gold and brown. The card itself if framed with gold metallic and white glitter cardstock. The background was dry embossed with a Darice Snowflake Flourish Embossing folder. The Vintage Labels and Vintage Flourished Pattern dies are layered to frame the Merry Christmas die sentiment. The white background is also dry embossed. The corner is created with the corner from the Fancy Ornaments die. The poinsettia is created with the flowers from the Peaceful Poinsettia and the leaves from the Merry Mosaic.
Dies: Flourished Star Pattern, Merry Christmas, Merry Mosaics, Peaceful Poinsettia, Pinecones, Lovely Leaves, Vintage Labels, Vintage Flourished Pattern, Fancy Ornament
Origin of the Poinsettia:
John 14:27
Julie Gearinger, Chris Olsen, Robin Clendenning, Diana Nguyen, Paula Bigelow

Origin of the Poinsettia:
There is an old Mexican legend about how Poinsettia's and Christmas come together, it goes like this:
There was once a poor Mexican girl called Pepita who had no present to give the the baby Jesus at the Christmas Eve Services. As Pepita walked to the chapel, sadly, her cousin Pedro tried to cheer her up.
'Pepita', he said "I'm sure that even the smallest gift, given by someone who loves him will make Jesus Happy."
'Pepita', he said "I'm sure that even the smallest gift, given by someone who loves him will make Jesus Happy."
Pepita didn't know what she could give, so she picked a small handful of weeds from the roadside and made them into a a small bouquet. She felt embarrassed because she could only give this small present to Jesus. As she walked through the chapel to the altar, she remembered what Pedro had said. She began to feel better, knelt down and put the bouquet at the bottom of the nativity scene. Suddenly, the bouquet of weeds burst into bright red flowers, and everyone who saw them were sure they had seen a miracle. From that day on, the bright red flowers were known as the 'Flores de Noche Buena', or 'Flowers of the Holy Night'.
The shape of the poinsettia flower and leaves are sometimes thought as a symbol of the Star of Bethlehem which led the Wise Men to Jesus. The red colored leaves symbolize the blood of Christ. The white leaves represent his purity.
Verse Of the Day- The Gift of God's Son is of peace and a future. God sent His son as a humble baby who would later deliver us from our Sins!! Have you accepted His Grace? It is not to be earned. All you need to do is believe that you are sinner and He has died for you!! Surrender to Him.John 14:27
"Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful.

Lovely card - I especially like the gold touches and the gold pinecones. I've never heard that story about the poinsettia before - love learning something new everyday. :) Thanks so much for sharing.
I LOVE your card as always! All the beautiful thin trims add so much to the finished project! Love how we were totally kindred spirits on this challenge! You embossing and all your embellishments are just beautiful! It has actually inspired a new idea for another card! Thank you for being such a great leader for us!
Chris, this card is gorgeous!! Love the crisp white with the gold and new foliage accents!! You have such a wonderfully elegant style and I just love how you have incorporated so many fabulous dies and details in this card :-) Thanks for sharing the story behind the Poinsettia as well (I had never heard this one either)...Hugs and have a blessed week, my friend!
Such a beautiful card x
You have a beautifully layered card, Chris! I like the bright gold as the background for the pinecones and the glittery sentiment against the white! This certainly puts me in the mood for celebrating Christmas!
Those gold touches are awesome! I love how you have incorporated so many fabulous dies and details in this card. You're creative!

What a gorgeous card, Chris, and I so love poinsettias. We have a large one that continues to grow larger each year and will turn red before Christmas and delight us throughout the season. I love your beautiful layout and the dies you always use for great texture, and your floral array is lovely! Yes, what a precious legend of the poinsettia, and it's also interesting to read about the medicinal values of them. God has created so many amazing things! Hugs, sweet friend!
I adore poinsettias & your card is just stunning, Chris!
