Happy Tuesday all!!  Sorry it has been so long since I posted, yet again.  Life keeps getting in the way of crafting.  I wish I could just craft all day but that is just not the case.  Thankfully the heat is much better here.  No more 105 degree plus days...today it is 85 degrees.  Much more tolerable.  Thank you Lord!!!

Anywho...today I am popping in to share this week's Shining the Light challenge at Our Daily Bread Designs.

This week's challenge:
We would like to see tearing or distressing on your creation.

To make the challenge even more fun, we will be giving out a prize, $15 gift certificate to be used toward stamps at the Our Daily Bread Designs store!! Entries for thprize must be submitted by Sunday, July 15th at 8 p.m. EST. One random winner will be chosen and announced next Saturday.

While it is not required to use Our Daily Bread Designs images and sentiments on your creations, we would love to see them if you have them. As a way of recognizing those who do use Our Daily Bread Designs stamps, we will again be choosing three or more of our participants  for the  Shining the Light Award.  In order to qualify for this award or join the challenge, however, you must use Our Daily Bread stamps and have your submission added to Mr. Linky by Sunday, July 15th at 8 p.m. EST. If you upload your creations to Splitcoast Stampers or any other online gallery, please use the keyword is ODBDSLC115.  When creating your posts on blogs please include a link to the challenge.
Now on to my creations:

This a.m. I made a quick card to meet this week's Color Challenge at Splitcoast (CC383- Rasberry Ripple, Pink Pirouette, and Crumb Cake).   I love the color combo for this week's but found it to be a real fun challenge.  Since I did not have Razzleberry Ripple, I used Purely Pomegranite instead.

I created my own designer paper using the flowers from Our Daily Bread Designs Flowering Faith and Bird Borders and Corners sets. These stamps were inked in pink pirouette, Purely Pomegranite, and Crumb Cake (kraft). The sentiment is from ODBD's Flowering Faith , framed with Eternity , and cut out with the Elegant Ovals Spellbinders dies exclusive to ODBD.

The crumb cake oval is created with a cuttlebug victoria embossing folder and the embossed kisses technique. I added some pearl trim, some stitching, a Cheery Lynn Small Exotic butterfly , a bunch of leaves from Cheery Lynn Fanciful Flourish and a punched border using the Daisy Border Punch from Martha Stewart.

Challenges I am entering this card in:
Bearly Mine - #43 Pearls & Lace  Creative Card Crew -  #14 Swirls & Pearls Paperminutes - #225 Shabby Chic/Vintage  Make it Monday - always Anything Goes  There She Goes - Sewing and Stitching Corrosive Challenges -Sentimentally Yours Stampin' Sisters in Christ - (at least) 1 Circle/Oval Element, (at least) 2 Different Papers, (at least) 1 Embellishment Guylou's Inimitability Swirls & PearlsStamp Man - Bling it On It's All About the Vintage  Anything Vintage Moving Along With The Times Sentiment only Shelly's Images Use text/sentiment Southern Girls  Pearls
For my second creation, I decided to challenge myself and make a pedestal pop up card.  You can find the tutorial here at Splitcoast Stampers.

My card uses Birthday Blessings from Our Daily Bread Designs and Green Tea designer paper from Stampin Up. The card stock is Marina Mist, Certainly Celery, and Old Olive. I distressed the edges using old olive. The bows are made with Martha Stewarts Ribbon Loop corner punch. It was fun using my Nestabilities (Squares) and ribbon to make presents. To meet this week's Shining the Light challenge- ODBDSLC115, I added distressing with Old Olive.

I've never seen this technique before. I love it! I'll have to try it sometime.

What a great technique Chris! I love the playful and happy look of your card. I'm also glad to see a card without tearing, because I wasn't sure I'd be able to handle the tearing part. Tearing is way outside my comfort zone!

How cute Chris! I've never tried this technique! The little gift boxes are so cute! I never thought about just inking the edges for distressing, lol! I totally terrorized my paper! Blessings! Kathy
