Happy Saturday Everyone!!  Well the holidays over and most teams and challenges are resuming their regular schedule.  Today is the first Our Daily Bread Designs Shining the Light Challenge for 2011!!

I want to personally welcome our two team members, Silke Ledlow and Pat Smethers.  We are so excited to have you join us on the Challenge team!!! You both inspire me with your talent and gorgeous creations.  I can't wait to see what you come up with for the challenges each week!!

This week's Challenge:
A new year has begun and an old year has ended....use something new and something old from your stash.

To make the challenge even more fun, we will be giving out a prize, a $ 15 gift certificate to be used toward stamps at the Our Daily Bread Designs store!! Entries for the prize must be submitted by Thursday, January 13. One random winner will be chosen and announced next Saturday. If you are not using ODBD stamps, please do not submit more than once.  Additional entries without using ODBD stamps will not qualify for comments or prizes.

While it is not required to use Our Daily Bread Designs images and sentiments on your creations, we would love to see them if you have them.As a way of recognizing those who do use Our Daily Bread Designs stamps, we will again be choosing 1 to 2 creations to spotlight for our Shining the Light Award. In order to qualify for this award, however, you must use Our Daily Bread stamps and have your submission added to Mr. Linky by January 13 at 8 p.m. EST.If you upload your creations to Splitcoast Stampers or any other online gallery, please use the keyword is ODBDSLC42. When creating your posts on blogs please include a link to the challenge.

Now on to my challenge creation:

For my card I used the Full of Grace- Faith, Butterfly single, butterfly die and Butterfly Embossing plate
available at Our Daily Bread Designs.  The new items I used for my creation include the Full Of Grace-Faith set, the embossing plate and the ecru trim.  The old items I used were the Basic Grey Curio designer paper, punches, Labels 14 die (spellbinders) and black wrinkled ribbon. My butterfly is colored with copics.  The little butterflies are the negative pieces left from punching the butterfly border with the Martha Stewart Butterfly border punch.  The embossed butterflies are distressed with Bittersweet Distress ink as are the edges of the sentiment panel.
