Happy Tuesday morning!!! I hope everyone had a great weekend! I know our family did although we received a lot of not so good news.

A very close friend of ours worked nights at the hospital on Saturday night, on his way home (one mile from his home) he fell asleep. He went off the road and hit a tree. As a result, from the impact, he shattered the vertebrate in his back. Thank God he is not paralyzed and can move his arms and legs. What a blessing! He did have to go through 6 hours of surgery to put a rod in his back and is in a great deal of pain.My heart and thoughts are with Marcus and Florence (and their to little girls) right now.It really makes you thankful for good health that so many of us take for granted. My brother in law also lost his job. During these tough economic times my heart goes out to my sister and the family. What news for them to get the day before leaving on vacation!!! They had it scheduled months ago. I am so glad they did go and I hope they have a great time!

WEEK #16 SKETCH (MMSC16)

My take on the sketch:

While many of the dt used Michelle's gorgeous digitals, I decided to use on of my Sweet n Sassy images to add to the variety of the dt examples. This is my very first Christmas card. I love this poinsettia wreath!! I knew I wanted to use it but I must admit I struggled with this card trying to make the sketch. Did you ever have a card that just doesn't feel quite right to you? Well this one is it for me. It is not one of my faves. I am still loving this Christmas Poinsettia set from Sweet N Sassy. It is so much fun to color! I watercolored mine. The dp is from SU retired holiday line from last year. It is such gorgeous paper! I added some K&Co. glitter to the borders for some added sparkle. While it is hard to see in this picture, I did add little Hero Arts Pearls to the wreath.

Card Recipe:
Stamps: Sweet n Sassy Christmas Poinsettia
Paper: SU Holiday Treasures, K&Co Green Glitter Paper, Bazzill Bitter Chocolate
Accessories: EK Success Moracco Lace, Spellbinders, Prima Dandies, brown grosgrain ribbon, rhinestone flourishes, Hero arts pearls

Thanks for stopping by today! I hope this inspires you to create and maybe even create using this sketch. Should you create a card or project with this sketch, please leave a direct to Mr. Linky here. If you upload your creation to SC please use the keyword MMSC16.

For some gorgeous takes on this sketch, you really must hop on over to my fellow dt sisters. There are a lot of magnificent creations there!

Wow Chris - so sorry to hear about your friend and your brother in law. I'm not sure why bad things happen to good people...hopefully, with the wonderful support system they have through friends and family, their 'bad' times will be short, and their upcoming good times will be better than ever before. Your card is beautiful! Isn't it fun making that very first holiday card? Lol...Blessings dear friend...

Chris, what awful news!! I hope your friend is free of pain soon. I know what he's going through, and it is terrible. How disastrous for your sister and BIL! I'm glad they followed through on their vacation plans.

Your cards are gorgeous as usual, and that new set of seasons is amazing!! Thanks for sharing the good AND the bad. You and they are in my prayers!

Chris you know I love every card you make! Your sewing just has me drooling!

I'm so sorry you had so much bad news this weekend! That was a terrible accident! I thank the Lord he made it through alive and able to move! I am living testimony to the healing power the Lord gives, even when in a terrible accident where I was not "supposed" to survive (humanly speaking)! I will pray for his speedy recovery!

I'm also sorry to hear about your BIL losing his job. These are such difficult days! I hope they can still manage to have a relaxing time on vacation, and will pray the Lord provides something for him. God is able!

It was sooo good meeting you on Sat. and I hope we can do it again when we have more time! Hugs!

Chris - so sorry to hear about your friend and brother. Both going through difficult times in totally different ways. My prayers are with both of them and their families!

Your card is so pretty! I'm a huge fan of poinsettia's - might be due to the fact that my parents got married in December and they consider this their flower. I like your sketch too - you always have the coolest layers and details on your cards!

Chris, sorry to hear of such bad news for your friends and family. Praying for a quick recovery for both instances of circumstance.

This poinsettia wreath is just lovely and your coloring superb. The rhinestone accent is striking. This is one of those classy and sophisticated pieces of artwork that is a pleasure to behold.
