Hi Everyone!! I hope you all had a great day!! I was hoping to post this earlier but I am slightly behind this week. Must be in a summertime mode. LOL!

Anywho...I thought I would post a sneak of one of the upcoming digi's released at Whimsy on Thursday July 1, in two days or should I say almost tomorrow....LOL!!!! You won't want to miss these awesome digis from Meljen's design's and Crissy Armstrong!!

The image I am giving you a sneak peak of today is called Puss n Boots and it is illustrated by Melissa from Meljen's Designs. The accompanying sentiment is a digi sentiment designed by our very own dt sister Ann Vento of Rain Drop Echo Designs at Whimsy.

My cousin's daughter who just finished kindergarten last week and had her tonsils out yesterday so I thought I would send her a bookmark and book to cheer her up and to celebrate the beginning of her summer. I plan to send her the book Puss in Boots by Jan Brett my fave children's author ever (the elem. teacher coming out in me....LOL!) I love her illustrating.

I colored the image with copics. The shape of the bookmark uses the Labels 10 Spellbinders Nestabilities Die. The last panel is dry embossed. The dp is from Basic Grey Indian Summer. I thought the cowboy boot was a perfect charm for the bookmark tassel.

I also made this bookmark to submit into Meljen's Designs Bookmark or tag challenge.

challenges:

Crafty Ann's - Embossing (dry embossed last panel to frame the bookmark)
Caardvarks - Embossing (dry embossing)

Papertake Weekly-stitching
Spoon Full of Sugar- a card or project with animals on it

Thanks for stopping by today and for your sweet comments. It feels so weird posting so late in the day. LOL! I hope to visit your blogs tomorrow.

Happy Sunday Everyone!! I hope you are all enjoying the weekend. I was not feeling well at all yesterday so I didn't accomplish much in the way of housework, crafting or blog hopping. I hope today I am feeling better since it is my oldest daughter's birthday!! Happy Birthday Nicki! I hope I can make her day special.

Anywho...Today I wanted to share the Stampin Sisters in Christ challenge which is being hosted by the dear sweet and ever so talented dt sister Randi.

Randi chose the verse: Isaiah 53:5 (KJV) But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities: The chastisement of our peace was upon Him; And with His stripes we are healed.

When I think of my daughters and the small gifts I have bought for her, there is nothing bigger or more special from the gift God has given through Christ's death and resurrection. We did not deserve it but it is through His Grace that he died. It is through his suffering that we can have eternal life if we believe in Him. What a gift!!!
Randi's challenge this week is

The sentiment is a Ticket Sentiment from Whimsy's Sentiment collection (designed by my dt sister Ann Vento)

Happy Monday! Here's to the beginning of another week...I am still away camping so this post is scheduled. I am sure I am having a good time with family!

Since today is Monday it is time for another Product Spotlight at the Stamp and Create store. The Product Spotlight is Wags n Whiskers (that means they are on sale for 25% off ).You can find them all -->here<—

For my creation today, I used my fave image: Say a Prayer. It is perfect for Thinking of you cards, sympathy or even sending a birthday prayer. It is so fun to color and it is available as both a digi and rubber stamp.

My dear friend Grace made this card using a quilting background and I just loved it so much I had to case the idea for my background. It is perfect for using up scraps. It can be time consuming, however, if you are sewing on each panel. LOL!

The papers are a combo or Green at Heart and Eskimo Kisses from Basic Grey. The ribbon is May Arts pink silk. Since it is still our Charms challenge for our Monthly challenge at Stamp and Create, I added the cross charm. I also added white and pink mini roses.

If you want to join the Stamp and Create challenge this month, you have until July 4th.

Here is what you must do to join:

~ You must use a stamp that is carried at Stamp and Create. That can be anything from a Wags 'n Whiskers Stamp, Kraftin' Kimmie Stamp, Stampavie, Popcorn Bear, Whiff of Joy, The Greeting Farm, etc... Just as long as it is a stamp that is available in the store.

~ Post your card/project on your blog and link back to this challenge post. If you don't have a blog, you can use either Paper Craft Planet or Splitcoast Stampers to upload your card.

~ Link the stamp used on your card to that stamp in the store.

~ Be a follower of the Stamp and create blog

This challenge is open until midnight EST on July 4th.

Oh, and feel free to combine with how many challenges that you want!!

Thanks for stopping by and for all your comments!! Have a great day!

hugs and blessings,
Chris

Happy Sunday Everyone!! I hope you are enjoying your weekend and I am enjoying mine. LOL! This is a prescheduled post while I am away so I wonder how my trip will be. Will it be raining? The most important part is that I am away spending time with my girls and hubby. What better day to be with family than on Father's Day!! Since I have no crafting along and no computer, I am sure that my dear husband is getting the time he so deserves. I am so thankful to God for putting Scott in my girls and my life. What a blessing!! Wishing all the men or your hubbies and fathers a Happy Father's Day.

Well anywho....Today is the Stampin in Christ Challenge. This week's challenge and verse is hosted by Candace. Unfortunately for us this is also Candace's last week as a team member. She has indeed been a blessing to us all and she will be missed. This is not Goodbye, however, because she will still be in blogland. Thanks Candace for your friendship, witness, creativity and your willingness to share with others. God bless you my friend!

Candace chose one of my fave verses: Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. Psalm 119:105

The bible is like a road map which can direct us on the paths we should go. In His Word God directs us and guides us in times of joys, sorrows or when we need the direction. No he does not hit us over the head and say "Hey you go this way" He also gave us discerning minds to apply His Word to our lives. All we need to do is trust in Him. This verse goes very well with my ultimate fave verse. "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and Lean not on your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your Paths. God does not talk to us through burning bushes or from clouds like He did in Biblical times, He uses His Word.

Candace's challenge this week is not to use stamped images! Make a card with just words (a sentiment/verse)

Here is my take on the challenge:

For my creation I used the Crafting Sentiments digi from Whimsy stamps designed by Ann Vento of Raindrop Echo Designs. I just love this sentiment and how true it is!! I had so much fun using the Cosmo Cricket Material girl dp which I felt was an awesome match for the sentiment with the scissors, buttons and measuring tape dp! I also pierced around my sentiment and added buttons for interest.

If you should create a card or project for this challenge, please leave a direct link here. Should you upload your creation to SC or PCP, please use the keyword SSIC45.

Happy Friday Everyone!! Today it is time for another Wags n Whiskers challenge brought to us by my uber talented DT sister Sharon who is asking you to think Lemonade Stand-use a little or a lot of yellow on your creation.

Just remember that you must use a Wags 'n Whiskers stamps to be entered into the drawing for ONE FREE WAGS 'N WHISKERS STAMP OF YOUR CHOICE!!
You can use rubber or Digi's :-) You can click the banner to the right of the Wags n Whiskers blog to go shopping!
Here is my take on Sharon's yellow challenge:

I don't use a lot of yellow so this challenge surely did force me to think outside of the box. I used dp from the Basic Grey Origins dp. The Summer Treat image was colored with Prisma color pencils and gamsol. The circle is framed with the Rennaissance Hearts Die from Spellbinders. The layout uses the Friday Sketchers sketch from last week.
Card Recipe:
stamps: Wags n Whiskers Summer Treat
paper: Basic Grey Origins
accessories: White Crocheted Lace, Ivory silk ribbon, MS Shells border punch, scalloped circle nestabilities, pearls, silver baubles

I hope you enjoyed my creation and are inspired to join us. If so, please leave a direct link here.

Happy Thursday everyone!! I hope you are all having a great week!! By now my family and I are probably touring the countryside in Lancaster, PA, shopping in the Amish stores, checking out the selection of dp at the nearby Kings, or just basking in the sun at the campground. Yes I am sure it is the life...I am sure I am also going to be going through internet, blogging world, and crafting withdrawal. Yes, I even decided to leave my crafting supplies behind. Now that is a true miracle!! Time to have some family time and a true camping experience.

Anywho...today is Thursday and time for another Divine Diva Inspiration challenge.

Tuesday, June 15, 2010

Happy Tuesday Everyone!! I hope you all had a good beginning to your week. Today is my last post that I am writing from home. Today we leave for vacation. I have many posts scheduled for the next two weeks so you won't even know that I am gone...other than I can't leave comments for you until I come back.
Today I would like to share a card I made using a Whimsy Digital image from the Meljen's Digital Collection called Gruffy Little Gnome. The sentiment is from Ticket Sentiments designed by Ann Vento of Raindrop Echo Designs for Whimsy. I seldom do cards for men but I needed a Thinking of you or Get Well card for an older gentleman at our church who has been very ill and in out of the hospital. I thought this image was so darling and would put a smile on his face.

For my layout, I used the Midnight Madness sketch challenge for this week which I flipped. The papers are from Bo Bunny. The image is colored with Prisma Color pencils and gamsol and sparkle is added to the hat. For the ovals along the thin strip I added sewing and buttons. You can see it better if you click on the photo for a close up.

Since it is a manly card, I used the Labels Eight Spellbinders and distressed the edges. For the sentiment, there is a blank ticket in the Ticket sentiments set where hand wrote the word Sorry.

Card Recipe:
Stamps: Gruffy Little Gnome and Ticket SentimentsPaper: Bo Bunny designer paperAccessories: MS punch, bayou blue grosgrain ribbon, black grosgrain ribbon (3/4 inch wide), sewing machine, silver baubles, buttons from stash, copper brads, label eight die from spellbinders.
Challenges:
  • Meljen's Designs #11-Sparkle,Glitter, Bling
  • Stampavie and more-Dots Some of the dp is covered but you can see it on the corners
  • Our Creative Corner-Focus on Corners (I turned back and distressed two corners-adding brads)
  • Charizma Cards Challenge-Spots and Stripes (although my card has a lot of detail, the dp is stripes on one piece and dots on the other, you can see the stripes on the left and the dots on the corners if you click for a close up
  • Off the Wall Craftiness-Brown,Robins Egg Blue,White ( my blue is a tad bit darker)inspiration photo:
Sorry for all the challenges but I wanted to take advantage of linking to all the challenges before I can't while I am away.

I have posts for the rest of this week and next but I won't be able to comment until I get back.

hugs,
Chris

Happy Monday everyone!! I hope you all have had a good start to your week and a very restful weekend.

This week we leave for vacation and while I am so looking forward to going camping tomorrow, I have so much yet to do.

Oh well...Today is another Stamp and Create Product Spotlight!! This week Lacey has decided to extend the sale on the Popcorn Bear Images. I just love these adorable stamps. Please do note though that these images are rather large. This card is 6X6 and the image takes up a good portion of the card.

I used the Popcorn Bear image- Someone Special. I also used May Arts ivory silk ribbon, the bow easy, White lace, Scalloped Frame Nestabilities, Cosmo Cricket Material Girl Dp, and a flower charm available at Stamp and Create.

The Layout of my card uses the Midnight Madness sketch challenge for this past week. I flipped the sketch on its side.I also incorporated the challenges:
Daring Cardmakers: pearls
Spoonful of Sugar: Floral Delight
Tuesday Taggers: All that blooms
Totally papercrafts...animal magic
My time to craft...xtra special -this card is for my daughter
Crafty creations...child's play
Simon says Stamp- a recipe-2dp, 1 image, 3 types of embellishments-bling, ribbon, and charm
Charisma Cards- spots and stripes (striped pattern on one side of the dp and spots on the other)
Stamp Something- happy something- Happy Birthday card

Last week was the beginning of Stamp and Create's month long challenge hosted by Joy.
Joy's challenge was to use any image available at stamp and Create and a charm.
I hope you have enjoyed my creation and will join the Stamp and Create challenge. All you have to do is:

Happy Sunday Everyone!! I hope you are all enjoying the weekend!! While it has been busy here we have had a good time as well.

Since today is Sunday....it is also time for another Stampin Sister in Christ Challenge. This week's challenge is brought to us by Lisa.

Lisa chose the verse:

2 Timothy 1-6 "You then, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable men who will also be qualified to teach others. Endure hardship with us like a good soldier of Christ Jesus. No one serving as a soldier gets involved in civilian affairs--he wants to please his commanding officer. Similarly, if anyone competes as an athlete, he does not receive the victor's crown unless he competes according to the rules. The hardworking farmer should be the first to receive a share of the crops."

As Father's Day approaches next week, we need to reflect on how blessed we are to have the men in our lives who serve as both as both fathers and husbands.

Lisa's Challenge this week is:
Make a Father's Day card/project.
.. or just a masculine card

Here is my take on the challenge:

For my card I used the Midnight Madness Sketch for the week, On Eagles Wings and the Dad set from Our Daily Bread Designs. Since it is a masculine card, I distressed the edges to give it a masculine feel. I have used some pearly new paper from SEI called On the Beach. My background sky is sponged and dry embossed.

Masculine cards are harder for me to make but I think this one turned out o.k. and that my Dad will like it...I hope.
