Hi! I am Chris, also known as Glowbug on Splitcoaststampers. I live in Appomattox, VA. I so much enjoy blogging and the so many good friendships that have formed as a result. During my free time, I am creating cards or projects and I so enjoy Challenges. I have a very supportive husband, Scott, who understands my addiction and two young daughters,Meghan, 9 and Nicki, 12 years of age, who can't wait to get their hands on my stamps and embellishments. I was an elementary school teacher until my youngest was born. I have now been blessed with the opportunity to teach my two girls at home. I use stamping as a hobby or way to escape.

ODBD Bread Basket

Saturday, March 12, 2011
Happy Saturday Everyone!  After taking a few days of blogging, I am back.  I still did not get near done as I would have liked but it was great to take a small break.

Today I have two cards to share with you!!  The first is for the ODBD Shining the Light challenge.

Since this is the week of ODBD's Third Anniversary, we are having a special 3rd Anniversary challenge of using Pearls or Leather (this can be real leather or suede or faux leather or suede- it can be the technique for these as well) or pearls (pearls, pearl paper, pearl glimmermist, etc).

Leather is the traditional anniversary gift sent for a three year anniversary and pearls is the gem.)

To make the challenge even more fun, we will be giving out a special prize, a $25 gift certificate to be used toward stamps at the Our Daily Bread Designs store!! Entries for the prize must be submitted by Thursday, March 17. One random winner will be chosen and announced next Saturday. If you are not using ODBD stamps, please do not enter more than once. Additional entries without using ODBD stamps will not be commented on or will they qualify for prizes.

While it is not required to use Our Daily Bread Designs images and sentiments on your creations, we would love to see them if you have them.As a way of recognizing those who do use Our Daily Bread Designs stamps, we will again be choosing 1 to 2 creations to spotlight for our Shining the Light Award. In order to qualify for this award, however, you must use Our Daily Bread stamps and have your submission added to Mr. Linky by March 17 at 8 p.m. EST.If you upload your creations to Splitcoast Stampers or any other online gallery, please use the keyword is ODBDSLC52. When creating your posts on blogs please include a link to the challenge.

For my creation, I used pearls.
After playing along with Splitcoast's Technique Lovers challenge this Monday...to make a shaped card, I had to go untraditional with my card.  I decided it would be fun to make the shape of two eggs for an Easter Card.  The sentiment is from the Daffodil tags stamp set from Our Daily Bread Designs.  It is cut out with SU oval punch die and framed with a Fancy tags die which I cut out with my Grand Caliber.  The flowers are from the Sing To the Lord stamp set and are colored with copics.  The silk bow is tied with the bow easy.  The one oval is embossed with Script using my cuttlebug.
 Card Recipe:
Paper: Prima Madeline, Bitter Chocolate, Very Vanilla, American Crafts Glitter Paper
Accessories:  Pearls, lace, butterfly charm, Blue Silk Ribbon from May Arts, Fancy Tags die, Provocraft Script folder (Cuttlebug),Labels 16 Spellbinders, Grand Caliber Machine, Butterfly charm

My Next creation is for the Whimsy Stamps Sneak Peek!!  On March 16 there will be a new release with some fun image and sentiments designed by Crissy Armstrong, Melissa Jenkins (Meljen's), Kenny K and Ann Vento of Raindrop Echo designs.
For my sneak peek I decided to use the Time Flies Stamp set designed by Ann Vento.  I just love the sentiments.  There is also a stop watch image in this stampset which I used on my dp behind my sentiment. Unfortunately the sentiment covers it up so it is hard to tell what it is.  The dp is from one of my fave paper stacks, Prima Madeline.  The sentiment is cut out with my oval scallops and classic spellbinders dies,  It is framed with the labels 14 die then layered in a square framed with Scalloped Squares (also spellbinders)

Card Recipe:
Stamps: Sneak Peak of Time Flies from Whimsy Stamps
Paper: Prima Madeline
Accessories: button (Recollections), lace, MS Butterfly punch, pearls, Spellbinders Labels 14, Lacey Squares, and Ovals
