Roses On Paper Challenge #4 by Anki- Magnolia Cherish

Talking about last minute. This one is last minute. I saw this challenge this week and really wanted to participate. With so many personal demands, I just got to it today. It was a real challenge but oh so much fun. You can see the challenge at Roses On Paper Designer team blog. The challenge was to use the sketch below with any Magnolia or Whiff of Joy stamp. These are the stamps that are available at Roses on Paper.

I chose to use a Magnolia stamp. I am unsure of the name. If anyone knows it's name, please let me know. I bought it back in September and am just now made the time to use it. I loved stamping it and coloring with Gamsol. Tilda is so cute and fun!! Who can resist?!! The sketch was different from my normal but oh so much fun. Thanks for the challenge.

I just purchase this paper today. It is a new DCWV stack called Garden Party. Nice spring colors!!!

The image is popped on dimensionals and layered. Some of the image is glittered (boots, bow, and the cuff on the sleeve). The flowers in the corner are hand crocheted and dyed with SU Cameo Coral. The flourishes are a Valentine Sizzix flourish die. The leaves are cut from glitter paper using a Martha Stewart punch.

OCC Challenge-Feature Presentation of Keep My Lamp Burning and I Am the Way ODBD- Purple Passion Lilies

This card I am sharing with you tonight is stamped two sets of stamps from Our Daily Bread Designs to be released on February 1. The lilies are from the set I Am the Way and one of my alltime favorite verses is from Keep My Lamp Burning. The sketch I used is for the OCC Challenge. The lilies were watercolored with Stampin Up markers on Watercolor Paper. I didn't add any glitter because I love the watercolored look on the flowers. The DP is K&Co. paper I purchased from Walmart!! It is recycled paper. I emembossed the vanilla circles with a floral embossing folder and dimensionalized the lilies. The verse is framed using a Martha Stewart floral border punch. The card is sewn with purple thread. Lastly I added some pearls.

SU Puppy Love Valentine

Today was one of those days that nothing seemed to go right. I honestly didn't think that I would have a card to post tonight but I do!!! I did not do this for any challenges. Just for fun!! I just got this Candy Lane Paper from Stampin Up with my Love You Much bundle. I Love It. I wanted to show case it in a card. Here it is!! All of the designer paper is Candy Lane. Lots of layers, huh? Since most of it is designer paper, it is not too heavy. The cardstock colors are Chocolate Chip, Pink Pirouette and Riding Hood Red. I received this little girl stamp and dog from my sister. It is so adorable. Before I returned it, I wanted to stamp atleast one card with it. I do not know the name of the stamp set but I do know it is a retired Valentine's Day set from Stampin Up. I colored it with Gamsol and layered it to give it dimension. The hearts, polka dots on the dress, and headband are glittered for some glitz. The pink fourish is a Sizzix Valentine Flourish. I love the flower!! It looks so real. It is a prima flower.

Make It with Paper Pleats Technique Lover's Challenge 205- You're Tutu Terrific/ A Friend Takes a Dog out to Lunch-SC215 and CC203(My Favorite Things)

I hope you enjoy today's posts. Since there is another snowstorm here and I am cooped inside, it is the perfect day to catch up on some challenges. The sleet is coming down here now. Yuck!!!

Yesterday I found out that my favorite and ONLY Scrapbooking store is going out of business . We do have Michael's and A.C. Moore but it is not the same. Their selection of designer papers and heavy Bazzill was fantastic. I guess I will have to do more online shopping. Boohoo!

The first card I made was for three challenges initially. The color challenge for the week which included using Baja Breeze, Pacific Point and Garden Green (CC203), today's sketch challenge (SC215), and TLC205 (using paper pleats). This was a very time consuming card since I kept changing things as I went along. I had done the paper pleats for the canopy over the window but was not happy with it so I pleated ribbon instead. While I love the color Pacific Point, it is a little out of my comfort zone. It is very hard to match with other colors or designer paper. As I was coloring the girl's dresses using gamsol, my ideas seemed to evolve on how I could design this card. I actually love how it turned out. I had planned on giving this card away but I don't know if I want to part with it now. I applied Crystal Effects to the glasses and boots for a shiny appearance and glitter to the dog's bow for some glitz. The images are colored with gamsol and dimensionalized.

The second card includes paper pleats for the Technique Lover's Challenge (TLC205). This card was made for a little girl's birthday. I thought the ballerina and the saying were just too cute. All of the papers for this card come from DCWV Girl's Nursery Pack. I love all of this paper!!! It is so beautiful! The floral designer paper in the background glistens with glitter. I thought the pleats were perfect for this card since the ballerina looks like she is performing. It makes the perfect curtain. This stamp set is retired from Stampin Up and is called Tutu Terrific.

Irish Blessing- New Release from ODBD on February 1st- May God Hold You

We are having a heat wave here. It is a whopping 20 degrees. Woohoo!! Of course the windchill brings it down just a few degrees. In all seriousness it is much better than the below zero temperatures we have been experiencing as of late. I have absolutely nothing to complain about!!! After I homeschooled my girls in my snuggly warm house, I had to time to play with my stamps!!! Yeah!

Today I have another New Release to share with you from Our Daily Bread Designs called May God Hold You. This set is a Saint Patrick's Day set but it can be used all year. I LOVE the Irish prayer. I decided to play with some more challenges today but this time I stuck to just one instead of the five on my last card. The challenge (WT202), I did, was to alter specialty design paper in some way, whether it be embossing, dry embossing , adding glitter, cutting, or etc. I did a lot of each when I paper pieced this card. When I saw the background paper in the Once Upon a Time Stack for DCWV, I knew it would be perfect for Saint Patrick's Day! It has so many shades of greens... and the sparkle in the background..... I also wanted a background for the prayer that looked like either a road or a field. There was designer paper in this stack that fit the bill perfectly, I think. The cross and frame were made from a brown designer paper in the Studio D First Blush Collection. The ring behind the cross was stamped and embossed in gold. The green designer paper for the shamrocks was also made from a paper in this same collection. After stamping the shamrocks, there was a lot of close and very small cuts to make.( lol!) The scrolls were cut out using my vintage cuttlebug die on gold glitter paper. Only the swirled embossed background paper behind the prayer and the green and very outside brown of the card was cardstock. All of the rest was designer papers pieced together. There is no coloring on the outside of this card!! The edges were distressed and sponged with chocolate chip. After sewing the card and putting everything together, I added glitter.

I AM THE WAY New Release from Our Daily Bread Design Stamps for February

I just received the sets from Our Daily Bread Designs for the New Release on February 1st. These sets are fantastic!!! I could not wait to ink up my first one!! In addition to inking up my first one, I decided I also had to challenge myself and meet some of the many challenges I haven't done in the last few weeks. So....I met five challenges with this card!! Woohoo!!

The first challenge was posted by one of my fellow bloggers JuieStamps at Splash of Color. Her challenge was to make a butterfly card that included glitter. I punched out my black butterflies using a butterfly punch from Martha Stewart. I then stamped the daylily stamp from Our Daily Bread Designs and embossed it with holographic embossing powder to create the detail on the wings. The remaining challenges are Splitcoast Challenges. I used Color Challenge 188 using pink pirouette, basic black and white.

I used the Limited Supply Challenge 204 making black my focal point and the frame in my card. I also stamped the small lily pattern from Our Daily Bread Designs new release "I am the Way" to create a patterned border around the edge. The lilies were stamped in black and embossed with black on the black paper.

The layout I used was from Splitcoasts Sketch Challenge 212. To create the "Love" in the oval at the bottom of the card I used a white plastic "Love" that was enclosed in some confetti that I found in the bridal department and embossed it in black. I was afraid it might melt when I embossed it but it turned out perfectly.lol!!! The strip which goes down the middle is dry embossed with a cuttlebug folder. The ribbon is a black velvet. Since I did not receive my heart nestabilities in the mail yet, and I wanted to try to make a Valentine's Day card with this set, I used paper lace doilies. The black heart was originally white, I inked it up black and embossed it in black in order to keep the black focal point that I wanted.

The last challenge I wanted to do was to use tacky glitter around the edge of the card (Technique Lover's Challenge 202).

My biggest challenge of all on this card was to limit myself on the amount of pearls, crystal or gems. I did it!!! I only used one pink crystal!!! I have taken over 20 pictures of this card to capture the colors and sparkle and finally just had to settle for this one. I hope you are able to see all of the details!! Anyone who has been watching my cards knows that I LOVE bling! I wanted the stamps and technique to be my focal point on this card.

I will be posting more previews of feature releases of Our Daily Bread Designs this coming week. I know my fellow stamping buddies on the design team will be as well. Although some of those lucky girls are at the CHA conference in Anaheim this week. Betty posted a card using this same set today as well. It is beautiful!!!

A Girl's night out

Hello Everyone! I have finally found a brief moment to post something on my blog. The weekend is just flying by. Yesterday was a special day for the girls and I. We had a "Mother-Daughter Tea". We got all dressed up and had a great afternoon and evening together. I did their hair up real special in a "Cinderella Moveover" with roses to make them feel like princesses. We all need that sometimes. Judging from their smiles they enjoyed it.

Stampin Up Bloomin' Beautiful

I needed to make a quick but elegant card for my sister in laws birthday since I am already late in sending it out (lol). This is what I came up with. I had left over paper from Stampin Up BonJour that featured Taken with teal so I used that. The paper strip is inked with Taken with Teal using the definition in the Bloomin' Beautiful . The background behind the flower is stamped using soft sky. The bee background is sponged using real mustard on so Saffron. The sides were sponged with close to cocoa to give a distressed or antique look. The flower is cut out and layered. The layers of the card are sewn. Hope she likes it.

House Mouse Valentine Bookmark

I love House Mouse Stamps and I do not stamp with them near enough. My girls often watch me stamp and then see my card or project given to someone else, so I decided to start getting a little valentine together for them both. My girls each have a snuggly teddybear (Build a Bear) they sleep with that they have had since they were very young. They are always cuddling them and playing with them. It is so sweet. This image reminds me of that so I thought I would stamp this and make them little bookmarks and gift tags. Soon I hope to make candy boxes for them. The gift tag will go on the gift which will hold a little outfit for each of their teddy bears. The image was colored using gamsol and paper toled.

Inkadinkado Lighthouse Valentine

Wow! What a day it has been for me!!! From one thing to the next. Finally have a chance to sit down and leave a brief post. This card is one that I made for two challenges SC211 sketch challenge and CC201. The color challenge was too use not quite navy, kraft, and baja breeze, which I did. I love this color combination!!!! I decided to make my own version of a guy's valentine's card. The card says "You light up my life!!". This card was colored with prisma color pencils and mineral spirits, it was also sponged, and distressed. The coloring is very detailed!! (lol) many of the rocks and parts of the lighthouse and birds are cut out and dimensionalized.

Penny Black "Purrfect Friends"

A friend of mine had posted a ribbon challenge on her blog. I decided to start making this card for the challenge, however, I completed it after the deadline and I really didn't think I used enough ribbon. I did think it was cute though so I thought I would share it with my viewers. You should go visit her blog to see her creation using a House Mouse stamp. It is adorable. This card was colored using gamsol magic, and has lots of dimension. There was lots of cutting. (Lol). I had cramps after cutting all of those flowers out in the wheel barrow. The flowers attached to the ribbon are punched out using a stampn up punch called Spring Bouquet. The ribbon is tied to make it look like a stem with leaves. The paper is very shimmery. It is from the Luxury pack from DCWV. Many pieces are sewn.

House Mouse Chewable Aspirin

It always saddens me to hear of young kids that are suffering from terminal illnesses. I made this card for a little girl that had been diagnosed with a brain tumor while her family was away for the holidays visiting family. It is so sad. This little girl is only four. She had been having problems with balance and dizziness. When she passed out her grandmother's house, 12 hours away from home, they rushed the to the hospital. The diagnosis was a brain tumor. She had to have an operation to remove the tumor. Unfortunately the operation caused her to lose a lot. She now has to relearn to walk, talk, eat and etc. As you can imagine, this has been very hard on the parents. She needs constant care!!

I have always loved this stamp was adorable. I love House Mouse so I decided to make this card for her. She loves blue so I used this blue paper from Heidi Grace.

Many of the images are colored using watercolor markers. After I outlined the image very subtly, I painted it with an aqua brush. The images are cut out and dimentionalized.

SU Favorite Teddy Bear Birthday

Happy Monday Morning!!! I hope everyone had a great weekend. I know I did. It goes so quickly though. Yesterday we were snowed in so I had more time to stamp. I started on some challenges but I did not quite finish them so I won't be sharing them today. I will be sharing some others instead.

This first card is a card I made for a young girl's brithday. Most of the card is paper pieced. The bear is stamped on brown felt to make it look more furry. The background is stamped using the leaves from the watercolor minis set from Stampin up. The string from the balloons is actually a gold string although the picture does not show it very well. It is a very 3D card. This card was the perfect for using up my many scraps. I have bins of them since I am always to throw anything away. You never know when you might need a certain color or pattern!!!

My Blog has a new look!!!!

I am so happy with the look of my new blog. It is so much more fun to post things on now. I need to give credit where credit is due, though. I wish I could say I did it but I did not. I AM NOT TECHNOLOGICALLY INCLINED IN THE LEAST!!!! Thank you Judy for giving my blog this beautiful fresh look!!!!!! I love nature and this reflects it very well!!!! The two pictures up above are from the garden this summer. As the snow continues to fall and I see the beauty of the icicles in the trees and the pure white ground, I also reflect on past and future Springs and Summers. I love all of the seasons but I must say I look forward to my perennials with great anticipation!!!

This is a card I made a while ago for a friend who wanted me to make a horse card for her 7 year old niece's birthday. Since she loves horses, I chose to make this card using some stamped images a friend had sent me in a R.A.K. I do not know the name of the stamp used but I do think it is a cute image. Since here favorite color is pink, I made pink my primary color. The designer paper I used is from Basic Grey (Lily Kate). I used the metallic paper from DCWV. The image is layered. I put crystal effects on the boots and bridle.

The craft store

My friends and I often joke about the impatience of our husbands or others when we walk into a craft or scrapbooking store. I can spend all my time (and money!!! lol!) looking at different papers, embellishments and ribbon, imagining with each what I could make. Last night, our family went out to break the monotony of being caged in this weekend. My husband and I laughed when we decided the one place we wanted to go, Lowes, our local home improvement store!!! (We received several gift cards for Christmas for there since we wanted to change our den door to a stained glass french door.) Now that is sad!!! You know you need a life when you go to Lowes for entertainment!!!!

When we got there we looked at the doors, and the lumber, and the hardware department, and the plumbing department...... 2 1/2 hours later we walked out with some o rings for our bathroom faucet, some light bulbs, and some other odds and ends. It was then that I realized that going to Lowe's is a man's craft store. They can look all of the options of plumbing etc. forever. I guess I now understand his boredom and impatience with going to a craft store. lol!

Scott made it up to us by taking us to Dunkin Donuts for some Hot Chocolate and a donut. Boy did that hit the spot!!!

Playing in a winter wonderland

Today I interrupt my regularly scheduled cards to share my girls playing with the "Bid Kid" outside. Granted I am not out there since it is below zero. No way!!! They are nuts in my opinion. I had to go grocery shop this a.m. in that chilly weather. Going in and out of the car was enough for me. A little too chilly for me. Scott played all morning rigging up the toboggan for my girls. They were so excited. Granted they won't be out too long since my oldest daughter, Nicki,has Asthma and can not be out in the cold air. It sometimes triggers an attack. That is why you only see her eyes. You can never be too careful. Most times the inhaler helps but I have had to bring her to the emergency room 4 times because she could not breathe. VERY SCARY!!!

Homemade envelope for Hedgehog Valentine "Cherish"

I have made many boxolopes for my 3D cards but yesterday I wanted to make an envelope that would hold a 3D card with out crushing it. I used a template I had made from another envelope and glued it so it would not be flat but would hold a card with dimension. I used the punch from the Love you Much bundle (Stampin Up) to punch out the hearts to decorate it. I also made borders with a K&Co. Glitter paper. The envelope is made from a 12x12 piece of Very Vanilla cardstock. Here is the results.

Hedgehog Valentine "Cherish" (Stampin Up)

Good Morning!! It is very crisp here in NY. The temperature is below zero. I little too cold for me. I don't mind the snow but this bitter cold is not very comfortable. Since my car is in the shop anyway, I will be staying indoors all day.

Today I would like to share a Valentine card that I made. I am a little behind on making my Valentine's Day cards. I need to do a lot of catch up. I also want to do some challenges on Splitcoast.

This card is made using a retired set from Stampin Up known as Hedgehog Happiness. I colored the image on very vanilla paper with gamsol magic. and sponged the edges with burgundy ink. The tree branches were stamped with a stamp from another retired set from Stampin UP : Touch of Nature. I had wanted to emboss the image and make the background cracked glass but it made the paper look too yellow for the hedgehogs. Leaving the hedgehogs white made them stick out to much from the background so I ended up just glittering them. This card ended up being a lot of trial and error. I had fun but I took a lot of time on it. The image is paper toled in some places and layered in others. I love this layout using the Top Note Die from Stampin up and the hodgepodge hardware. There is a ton of sewing and layers on this card.

Shimmery Easter using He Is Risen and Sing to the Lord (ODBD)

Hi! I am back to share another card I made using two sets from Our Daily Bread Designs . The flowers were stamped using the Sing to the Lord. I stamped them in gold (Encore) and embossed them in gold, colored them with markers and painted them with an aqua brush to soften the color. The cross and sentiment is from the He Is Risen set. The cross was stamped in Close to Cocoa and painted with Angel Wings Shimmerz (Our Daily Bread Designs). The "He is Risen" is embossed in gold.





The Ivory design paper has holographic glitter on it which is very hard to see in the picture. It looks like grey but it is actually a glitter.

It is very shimmery. The pink paper has gold embossed dots on it. I hit the jackpot yesterday at Michaels. This paper is normally $1.99 a piece. I got it on sale for $.14 each. What a deal!!!!





The bottom panel where the He is Risen is adhered to is pink originally. I dry embossed it with swirls, inked it up in gold, and embossed it in gold embossing powder for a metallic look. After I punched the corners and sewed the back panel, I curled some lace and adhered it under the corners. The flowers are from a R.A.K. I got from a friend.

Victorian Tender Toile

Where does the time go. Wow! I was hoping life would slow down after the holidays but it hasn't yet. I still make sure to find time to do some stamping even if it is in the very early morning or wee hours of the night.

I had a request from a friend to make a purple card since purple is her absolute favorite color. She loves a lot of glitz. This is the card I made. The stamp set I used is a retired stamp set from Stampin called Tender Toile. I love this scene. It is so spring looking. I sponged around the edges of the image. The image is colored using gamsol magic. I love how it blends and you can make your colors subtle. The background paper is stamped with images from the same set. and embossed with a cuttlebug floral folder. The image is 3D and glittered. The flourishes are made of rhinestones. The lace is from JoAnn Fabrics. The leaves on the card, by the purple prima flower, are punched from 2 different Martha Stewart punches. I drew on the leaf veins and slightly watercolored them. The ribbon is from Back to Basics.

Lift Up Our Hands Challenge in Hues of Blue

Earlier today I announced the challenge from Our Daily Bread Designs. I would like to share the card that I made for this sketch. This card was also made for the color challenge at Our Creative Corner. The challenge at Our Creative Corner was to use different hues of blue in your card. I chose to use the set Lift up our Hands set from Our Daily Bread Designs. This was newly released in January. I used Baja Breeze and Not Quite Navy as my two blues. I used the flowers from Sing to the Lord(ODBD) and stamped them lightly in Baja Breeze. I then stamped the verse over top in Not Quite Navy. The embellished flowers were dyed with Stampin up ink and painted with Shimmerz. The dove is from the stamp set To You and Yours from Stampin Up. It is stamped in Baja Breeze, painted with Angel Gold Shimmerz, and layered for dimension.

Lamentations 3:41 Let Us Lift Up our hearts.... OBDB

Today I would like to share a card that I made for two challenges on Splitcoast, the Divine Challenge (BVC

O9) and the Limited Supply Challenge (LSC202). For the limited supply challenge, you had to use red papers and anything you embellished with had to be red or hearts. I used the verse "Let us lift up our hearts and our hands to God in heaven...Lam. 3:41" from the Lift Up our Hands set a new release at Our Daily Bread Designs (ODBD). The verse is stamped in Riding Hood Red and embossed several times. I did the cracked glass technique (there is a tutorial on Splitcoast Stampers).The hearts were punched using a new punch from Stampin Up. I purchased it as a set from the Love You Much promo. I used one of my favorite paper sets from Stampin up called Bella Rose.

This challenge was a challenge for me as I love my embellishments! lol! this has less than 3 rhinestones, pearls, or gems! lol!

Pink Hydrangea

As the weather here is very chilly and extra snowy, I am thinking warm. We are going snow, snow and more snow again today. Today I would like to share a Spring card called "Pink Hydrangea". I love Hydrangeas and I had a good time making this one.

This Hydrangea is from Inkadinkado. The flower is watercolored, embossed, glittered and has several layers to give it dimension. The middle of each flower has a little pearl. The leaves and ferns are punched out with a Martha Stewart Punch.

Squeaky Clean Splitcoast challenge TLC202- Tacky glitter

I finally was able to finish the card this a.m. Weird as it may be my heat gun turned on after the 100th time. All day I kept trying to turn the switch on to see if it would work. Last night 20 minutes before my dinner guests were to arrive, it turned ON!!!! I was so happy and disappointed at the same time. I wanted to finish this card so badly, but I had to wait since I had company. BooHoo!!! It is done now though and I love how it turned out. I hope you do too.

This card was done for the technique lovers challenge on Splitcoast TLC202. I used the tacky glitter technique to put the gold glitter trim on around my square as well as at the bottom of the card. I colored the image using the gamsol technique and layered it to make it 3D. Of course, I also had to go a little with the pearls again. It just went so nicely with the liquid applique and glittered soap suds. This card has lots of texture. I cut up a baby wash cloth for the towel that is hanging in the background. The card is sewn with gold thread. This was a fun but very time consuming card to make. I hope you enjoyed today's post! Thanks for stopping!!

Leisure Time

I had originally planned on sharing a card that I began yesterday from Penny Black , however, my heat embossing tool would not work and I couldn't go out and get a new one since we are having an ice storm here. So instead I would like to share a card I made with a stamp from Spiral Whisper called Autumn Milly. I love their Milly stamps.

This card I colored using the gamsol technique. The image was layered and embossed. The leaf embellishments were made using a Martha Stewart Leaf punch. I had to use my favorite paper from Stampin Up (Ski Slope from their holiday mini) I love the Baja Breeze!!
